johnbordersReverend Dr John M. Borders, III is God's visionary for Morning Star Baptist Church-located in Boston, Massachusetts. Serving as pastor since 1981, his consistent obedience to God has taken the Morning Star Baptist Church congregation from glory to glory. The membership has grown from 75 in 1981 to 2,500 and counting. During the years, Pastor Borders’ uncompromising and bold teaching of God's Word has changed the lives of people both at Morning Star and around the country. Under his direction, twenty individuals have been licensed to preach the Gospel.

To accommodate the tremendous growth of the church membership, a “New Building Program” started under the direction of Pastor Borders. The church moved from it's 300-seat building to a 1,500 seat building in November 2004. With these accomplishments and many other community-empowering projects, Pastor Borders continues to spread the Word of God.

Pastor Borders has achieved many accolades on the local, national and international levels. He is a member of The Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston (BMA). In April of 2003, Pastor Borders was awarded the “Martin Luther King Jr. Preaching Fellowship” from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He leads the Boston community in Black – Jewish relations and is co-sponsor of the annual Black Jewish Seder in Boston. He is a board member of the Private Industry Council of Boston (compromised of the top 100 companies in Boston). He is an advisory board member of the Tremont Credit Union in Braintree MA. He has hosted “The Beacon Light” radio broadcast on Salem Communications’ WEZE Family 590AM since 1984

Educationally, Pastor Borders is a graduate of the Boston Public Schools and has attended four years at Eastern Nazarene College; He holds a diploma in Religion from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Currently, he matriculates in the Masters of Divinity degree program at Boston University School of Theology.

Pastor Borders is well received by his peers. He has preached for some of the country’s most prominent Pastors, such as; Rev. Dr. Fredrick Sampson, Dr. William Augustus Jones, Dr. Harold A. Carter, Dr. Charles Jackson, and Dr. William Shaw at the National Baptist Convention in Los Angeles California. Pastor Borders leads spiritual retreats to Israel and Egypt. He and his wife Mrs. Sandra Borders have conducted Marriage Enrichment seminars in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Columbia, South Carolina. Locally, He continues to be a featured guest preacher in many churches in the Northeast.
